NNDKP Cluj-Napoca Supported the International Congress of the European Bars Federation
Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen’s (NNDKP) Cluj-Napoca office was a partner at the Intermediate Meeting of the FBE Congress organized by the European Bars Federation (FBE) with the help of the Cluj County Bar between 17 and 19 October 2013.
The main theme of the event was “Free access to justice.” The discussions centered on issues such as stamp duty and public legal assistance, admittance to and exercise of the legal profession, the mandatory preliminary procedures that may constitute a breach of this right, and categories of people whose access to justice is limited (such as disabled or illiterate persons, individuals who do not know the official language of the country in which the trial takes place, and persons with little or no income.)
Over 100 members of the National Association of the Romanian Bars and of other bars in the European Union participated in the event, with presentations hosted by international speakers from Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Poland, Great Britain, and Romania.
Cristina Bidiga, head of NNDKP’s Cluj-Napoca office observed:
“We found that there is a common interest in improving the general perception of lawyers. Despite the differences in legal framework, we all have common preoccupations and concerns with respect to achieving a concrete level of free access to legal assistance not just formally, but also substantively. The discussions held also revealed that formal access to justice is guaranteed in Romania at a higher level than in other countries.”
Opened in 2011, the Cluj-Napoca office is headed at the partner level by Simona Neagu and locally by Senior Associate Cristina Bidiga. The specialized team of lawyers represents companies in Cluj and neighboring counties in commercial disputes, insolvency proceedings and labor conflicts and provides legal assistance with respect to companies’ day-to-day activities in civil, labor, corporate, real estate, and administrative matters.
Recently, NNDKP’s Cluj-Napoca team provided assistance and representation in commercial litigations and significant public procurement projects. The office’s client portfolio includes, among others, companies in the energy field, automotive industry, constructions, and food sector.
