Roxana Ionescu – speaker at the ZF Conference “The Deposit-Return System, the new shopping reality. How do we prepare for the change?”
Roxana Ionescu, Partner and Head of NNDKP’s Environment practice, was a speaker at the Conference “The Deposit-Return System, the new shopping reality. How do we prepare for the change?” organized by Ziarul Financiar on November 7, 2022.
Roxana contributed to the discussions in Panel 2 titled “The countdown has begun for retailers and beverage producers”, presenting the legal framework for the implementation of DRS and the impact the system will have on all stakeholders, including consumers.
“All eyes are now on the producers and retailers because they are indeed on the front line in the implementation phase, along with the DRS administrator, having to integrate and support the other stakeholders in all operations. However, it is extremely important that everyone understands the consumer’s role, as well. The system will increase consumer accountability. This is a legal obligation, and it is important to understand that consumers must return the packaging to the system. The sanction for not fulfilling this obligation is that consumers will no longer be able to recover the deposit.”, said Roxana.
