The increase of the minimum gross base salary at national level
Government Decision no. 1506/2024 for establishing the minimum gross base salary at national level was published on November 28, 2024, in the Official Gazette Part I no. 1185.
Thus, starting from January 1st, 2025, the minimum gross base salary at national level, guaranteed for payment, not including bonuses and other allowances, will be of RON 4,050 per month, for a normal working schedule averaging 165.334 hours per month, i.e. RON 24.496 /hour.
Failure to comply with the provisions regarding the payment of the minimum gross base salary is sanctioned with fines ranging from RON 3,000 to RON 5,000 for each individual for whom non-compliance with the legal provisions has been found, without exceeding a total cumulative value of RON 200,000.
Furthermore, the act of a person who repeatedly sets salaries below the legally mandated minimum gross base salary for employees hired under an individual employment agreement constitutes a criminal offense sanctioned with imprisonment from one month to one year or with a criminal fine.
